Wet Hot Kinkowan Summer is the fifth episode of Season 3.
Summary[]
Boomer, sick of Mikayla's awkwardness and overall lack of coolness, decides a summer vacation cruise with the rest of the island's teens could be just the ticket to make her more popular. But when Boz unknowingly steers the ship into the Dark Side waters, the only teens Mikayla befriends are undercover amphibious creatures that have snuck aboard in search of live offerings for their swamp dwelling overlord, a massive bullfrog. When the summer vacation goes awry, the kings and the rest of the teens have to rely on Mikayla to save them.
Plot[]
Boomer, Boz, and the rest of Kinkow are in the plaza, waiting for summer to "officially" begin when the heat reaches a specific temperature. As the giant thermometer's mercury reaches 83 degrees F, the kings declare the official beginning of summer. They take the Kinkowan teens on a cruise ship. After a couple of moments of persuasion from Boomer, Mikayla agrees to chaperone the cruise ship in place of Mason, who stays behind to entertain the rest of Kinkow with his "magic show". Boomer and Boz agree that Lanny is in charge in their absence. On the ship, the kings are greeted by many of their subjects. Soon enough, Boomer becomes fed up with Mikayla's overprotectiveness and orders her to chill and make friends. After more than a couple of failed attempts, Boomer overthrows her machete and once again orders her to have fun. Mikayla reluctantly agrees before preparing to throw herself overboard and swim after her machete, which she had named Stabitha. Boomer and Boz forbid her from doing so, and instead she throws a life preserver over, telling Stabitha to swim back to Kinkow. Back on Kinkow, Lanny had ordered stilts to be put on the throne and on his shoes, as he wants to "look down on everyone". Mason encounters him, still taller than him. Lanny orders Mason to do his magic show in the plaza and to "Alacascram". The throne falls onto him, putting him into a full body cast. Boz comes back to Boomer, saying that two girls want a tour of the ship, and they take them to the control room. Boomer bribes the captain to leave with a gold brick. In an attempt to impress the ladies, Boz accidentally hits the steering wheel, steering the cruise ship into the Dark Side. Two amphibian-like swamp monsters climb aboard, disguising themselves as teenagers by capturing their essence and blending in with the mess of Kinkowan teenagers, calling each other Gilda and Gil. Mason's magic show ultimately fails. Lanny throws himself into the ocean, saying "I'm free!!!" Gilda and Gil are the first "teenagers" Mikayla befriends, as they target her as easy prey since her attempts to make friends had failed. She takes the two to meet the kings, who absolutely adore the two and fit in perfectly. Mikayla starts being suspicious when Gil's eyes flicker from a regular human blue to a swampy green in the blink of an eye. Boomer insists she lets her guard down, not believeing a word Mikayla is saying. Gilda then suggets they hang out at a cool grotto, which is the home to their angry Overlord. After all the teens are inside the swamp, Gilda and Gil lock them in, leaving Boomer wondering what had happened to the siblings. They had revealed their true colors and transformed back into the swamp monsters "Yuck and Yeesh." The monsters, now speaking in monotone, reveal that if not for the teens, the hungry Overlord would have eaten them instead. Mikayla does her best to fight back, saying that she likes who she is and that she won't change for anybody else. The teens cheer Mikayla on, revealing that they only don't like her because they're scared of her. Mikayla takes out a pocket machete to defend the Kinkowans, but the Overlord, a huge frog-like creature, eats it almost immediately, leaving her defenseless. As the creature's long tongue continuously lashes its tongue out at her, Mikayla catches it and ties it to the gate, having the gate fly off and smack the Overlord in the face. Everyone is safely returned to the boat. Mikayla is now as popular as ever and makes a good amount of friends. The kings are off to the side alone, since the girls had left them because they had almost gotten them killed. The kings apologize to Mikayla for making her change for everyone else. Mikayla brings back the two girls the boys had been with earlier, saying that the idea to tie the tongue to the gate was all the kings' ideas. The girls go back to the kings, leaving Boomer and Boz wondering what to do next since they had never made it this far. |
